Boeing is seeking a Painter Spray A to join their Paint team in the Puget Sound Region, Washington. This role involves applying advanced painting techniques and materials to aircraft components, ensuring high standards of quality, precision, and protection against corrosion and wear. The position requires collaboration, surface preparation, paint material preparation, equipment maintenance, masking, operating curing ovens, monitoring time-sensitive materials, performing touch-up painting, marking and wrapping parts, devising fixtures, applying decorative finishes, and working with engineering on new procedures and materials. The role also involves physical demands and adherence to safety protocols. Basic qualifications include experience in surface preparation, painting, equipment maintenance, and following work instructions. Preferred qualifications include aircraft or autobody painting experience.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with higher and lower graded employees to accomplish work packages as required.
  2. Prepare surfaces for proper adhesion by selecting and using agents for operations such as corrosion removal, paint stripping, and chemical reactivation of painted surfaces.
  3. Prepare various paint materials (e.g., primer, enamels, lacquers) according to BAC specifications.
  4. Clean and service spray guns, paint tanks, brushes, hoses, and other equipment after use.
  5. Mask and unmask areas to facilitate corrosion removal or painting operations as needed.

Skills

Required

  • 1+ years of experience prepping, cleaning, and painting various surfaces in industrial, commercial, or academic settings.
  • 1+ years of experience using and maintaining various types of paint equipment and applicators, such as HVLP, pneumatic, electrostatic, and others.
  • 1+ years of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications
  • Experience using basic math (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, & ratios).
  • Experience do you have handling chemicals and/or hazardous materials.
  • Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.
  • Ability to use and operate low impact vibratory tools (sander/buffer).
  • Ability to use a respirator or have been respirator certified.

Nice to have

  • 1+ year of experience performing aircraft or autobody painting and finishing operations.
  • Completed 1+ year of autobody paint/collision repair in high school or community and technology college academic program.
