Boeing is seeking a Payloads Design Engineer for Seat Integration, at either an Experienced or Senior level, to join their team in Hamburg, Germany. The role involves developing and integrating cabin interior systems, ensuring seating products meet aircraft interface requirements, and validating design solutions against performance, safety, and certification standards. Responsibilities include coordinating technical activities, evaluating supplier data, and supporting continuous improvement of integration methods. The senior level entails leading integration efforts, owning the design requirements strategy, and acting as the primary technical focal for complex issues.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the integration of cabin interior systems, ensuring seating products are fully compatible with aircraft structures, systems, monuments, and cabin interfaces across multiple Boeing programs.
  2. Own design requirements, validation, and verification strategy, integrating analytical and test results to ensure compliance with aircraft-level performance, safety, and certification requirements.
  3. Provide technical authority in supplier evaluation and design approval, reviewing complex technical data (e.g. seat envelopes, installation constraints, substantiation approaches) to ensure robust, compliant, and producible integration solutions.
  4. Drive cross-functional alignment and resolve complex integration issues, acting as the primary technical focal across engineering disciplines, suppliers, certification specialists, and production stakeholders to protect delivery and program milestones.
  5. Lead development of integration strategies, standards, and best practices, including assessment of feasibility, risks, and implementation approaches for both production and post-production modifications.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 5+ years of experience in Aerospace industry, including design, integration, and/or certification or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience
  • Experience with aircraft interior design/modification programs with a high level of attention to detail
  • Knowledge of airworthiness requirements, e.g. CS/FAR 25, ETSO/TSO
  • Experience in leading complex projects (development and execution of schedule milestones, financial assessments, resource assessments, risk and/or issues management, etc.) including influencing team members and stakeholders (suppliers, customers, solution providers)
  • Expertise with navigating OEM data systems for specifications and standards

Nice to have

  • Current or recent appointment as a Design Review or Verification Engineer (DVE/DRE) with terms of approval relevant to interior (payloads) discipline is preferable
