Lead Software Engineer for a Payments Data Platform within JPMorgan Chase's Commercial and Investment Banking division. What you'd actually do

  1. Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  2. Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  3. Designs, develops, and maintains RESTful APIs and microservices that support business-critical workflows and integrations
  4. Owns full software development lifecycle — from requirements and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support
  5. Builds and maintains CI/CD pipelines, automated testing suites, and deployment automation to ensure rapid, reliable releases

Skills

Required

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • 3+ years of professional experience in backend or full-stack software engineering
  • Strong proficiency in Java, Spring framework, and OpenSource technologies and experience with Python, Go, or Node.js
  • Hands-on experience designing and building RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
  • Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD tooling
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Practical cloud native experience

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with AI agentic development patterns (LLM integration, prompt engineering, tool orchestration) and frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or ADK
  • Frontend development experience with ReactJS and modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems
  • Experience with API gateway patterns, GraphQL, messaging platforms (Kafka, SQS), or gRPC
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), observability practices, and cloud service provisioning
