Payroll Operations Specialist

This role supports the administrative and compliance foundation for customers operating across state jurisdictions by managing payroll tax registrations, agency accounts, foreign qualifications, tax correspondence, and unemployment claims. It involves partnering with internal teams and external agencies to ensure compliance and deliver exceptional customer experience, with a focus on process improvement and automation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Register employers with state and local payroll tax agencies and manage agency accounts, credentials, and ongoing maintenance.
  2. Research state compliance requirements and coordinate directly with government agencies to resolve registration and account issues.
  3. Process and maintain foreign qualifications, including filings, renewals, withdrawals, and vendor coordination.
  4. Review and route tax notices, respond to unemployment claims, and manage other compliance-related administrative requests.
  5. Coordinate additional client services, including California Statement of Information filings, agency payment research, and check processing.
