Pcb Layout Engineer

Skydio · Defense · San Mateo, CA +1 · R&D

Skydio is seeking a PCB Layout Engineer with expertise in complex layouts for next-generation autonomous drones. The role involves establishing design standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring high-performance, reliable designs. Requires 5+ years of experience in PCB layout for high-speed, high-density systems and proficiency in Cadence Allegro/OrCAD.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own layout of Skydio’s complex PCBAs for next generation products: outline definition, stack-up design, high-density placement, precision routing, and release to manufacturing.
  2. Establish and maintain design standards, libraries, and workflows to ensure consistency and scalability across multiple product generations.
  3. Partner closely with electrical, mechanical, RF, and manufacturing engineers to resolve trade-offs and deliver robust, manufacturable designs.
  4. Collaborate with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to ensure impedance control, compliance with DFM/DFT rules, and reliable production yields.
  5. Drive continuous improvement in tool flows, library management, and design review processes, including opportunities for automation.
