This role is for a People Business Partner Director supporting the Engineering team at Brex, a fintech company. The primary focus is on shaping organizational, leadership, and talent strategy to enable the scaling of technical capabilities. The role involves acting as a trusted advisor to the CTO and Engineering leadership, driving org design, coaching leaders, and experimenting with AI-powered approaches to people processes. While the role involves experimenting with AI tools in HR, it is not a core AI/ML role.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as a thought partner and advisor to the CTO and Engineering Managers, helping shape long-term organizational design and health.
  2. Translate business and technical strategy into clear people and org implications, proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
  3. Coach leaders on building high-performing teams, including hiring profiles, succession planning, and internal mobility.
  4. Lead org design efforts including defining structure, driving communication plans, and owning execution through rollout.
  5. Drive clarity around roles, scope, and leveling, ensuring consistency and rigor across Engineering.

Skills

Required

  • 8+ years of experience across People Business Partnering or related functions
  • Proven experience partnering with C-level or senior executives
  • Demonstrated ability to lead org design and transformation efforts
  • Strong track record of influencing senior leaders and driving change
  • Deep understanding of what great looks like in engineering organizations
  • Exceptional judgment, business acumen, and ability to connect people strategy to business outcomes
  • Clear, concise communicator
  • Active interest in and experimentation with AI tools in HR contexts
