Asana is seeking an experienced People Partner (Human Resources Business Partner) to support their Japan, APAC, and global teams. This role will deliver strategic partnership with leadership to create and execute people strategies that accelerate business objectives and enable teams to operate effectively. The position requires a blend of local expertise and a global mindset, focusing on talent strategy, change management, and data-driven decision-making.

What you'd actually do

  1. Drive Strategic Thought Partnership: Build and implement department-level talent strategy initiatives, driving talent planning efforts that align directly with business outcomes.
  2. Consult and Advise: Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to functional leads and leadership teams across Japan, APAC, and globally, leading complex people situations and supporting leaders in building their own capability.
  3. Lead Change Management: Partner with senior leaders to develop scalable change strategies and drive needed initiatives, proactively planning for contingencies and championing the Asana vision.
  4. Navigate Ambiguity: Identify root issues and operational needs in complex situations, presenting pragmatic findings and socializing change with clarity to senior stakeholders.
  5. Manage Cross-Functional Programs: Collaborate closely with the International People Partner Leader, global People Partners, and Centers of Excellence to lead the execution of core people programs, including onboarding, performance management, probation processes, learning and development, and employee engagement.

Skills

Required

  • Strategic HR Expertise: Roughly 6–8 years of HR experience with a demonstrated track record as a strategic HR Business Partner or Organizational Consultant.
  • Deep local HR experience across Japan and the APAC region.
  • Professional fluency in both Japanese and English.
  • Change Leader: Proven track record navigating large-scale organizational change.
  • Versatile Communicator: Comfortable with complex spreadsheets and C-suite conversations.
  • Independent Problem Solver: Ability to manage large, complex projects across functional and regional boundaries with minimal direction.
  • Collaborative Partner: Experience working with global, matrixed teams.
  • Analytic Mindset: Incorporate data and analytics into decision-making.

  • Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.
