Performance & Capacity Engineer - Capacity Planning Optimization (leadership)

Meta is seeking a leader for their Capacity Planning Optimization Engineering team to design and execute infrastructure capacity planning processes and tools across all of Meta. This hands-on leadership role involves interfacing with executive leadership, designing and contributing to planning software systems, and optimizing capacity plans at a strategic company level. The role requires connecting business strategy with software-driven modeling of infrastructure considerations, partnering across technical and business organizations, and leading engineers to build effective technical and process solutions. While not a pure software engineering role, it involves designing and contributing to planning software systems. The role also emphasizes integrating AI tools for workflow optimization and responsible AI practices.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own infrastructure capacity planning for all of Meta: all software products/services and plans for how to scale server and data center resources most efficiently
  2. Partner across the engineering technical landscape to optimize at the intersection of hardware, infrastructure, and software.
  3. Work closely with software service owners, Production Engineering, Server Hardware Engineering, Server Supply Chain, Network Engineering, Data Center Design, Operations, and Planning teams to find optimal ways to scale our infrastructure and place our services
  4. Design and contribute to analytical models to connect business strategy with detailed technical execution including regional and temporal bin-packing, optimal service placement, traffic shifts and service migrations, efficient hardware refresh, etc
  5. Effectively lead company-wide Capacity Planning business processes across technical and non technical contributors while delivering the most complex parts yourself
