Salesforce is seeking a Performance Engineer to drive performance and scalability initiatives for their AI CRM platform, focusing on optimizing applications and databases to handle billions of transactions and growing data volumes. The role involves deep dives into application/database internals, performance profiling, and optimizing critical data processing systems. A key aspect is integrating AI agents into human workflows and ensuring the reliability of AI-generated code and system context, requiring familiarity with generative AI, agentic frameworks, and advanced prompt engineering.

What you'd actually do

  1. Drive performance and scalability initiatives for Salesforce Sales Cloud applications and databases, ensuring systems can sustain billions of transactions per day and rapidly growing data volumes
  2. Design, develop, and optimize critical data processing systems, including query optimization on Oracle and other relational databases, schema design, and PL/SQL/SQL development
  3. Profile, analyze, and resolve performance bottlenecks across the full stack, including Java/C++ application internals, JavaScript/CSS front-end performance, and memory leak detection and remediation
  4. Build and maintain UI automation frameworks using Selenium WebDriver, and contribute to performance testing infrastructure on cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), with emphasis on multi-tenant architecture considerations
  5. Partner cross-functionally with engineering teams to establish performance engineering best practices, define key metrics, and lead design improvement initiatives that deliver measurable scalability gains

Skills

Required

  • 7+ years of development experience, with at least 5+ years of experience in optimizing large scale applications and databases.
  • Strong knowledge of structured and unstructured database fundamentals, design, architecture, performance and scalability
  • A mastery of a programming languages (e.g. Java, C++) and strong Object-Oriented programming skills with focus on optimizations, design patterns and best practices for performance and scalability.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with optimizing queries on Oracle or similar relational databases
  • Familiar with generative-AI technologies and agentic frameworks
  • Development experience with PL/SQL, SQL, Oracle, or other database technologies
  • Strong understanding of schema design and SQL development
  • Strong experience with IAAS (AWS or GCP). Major points for familiarity with multi-tenant architecture.
  • A proven track record of optimization and design improvements for performance and scalability.
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript ,CSS, JS frameworks and Browser Internals
  • Experience performance profiling and optimizing JavaScript & CSS and also detecting and fixing JavaScript memory leaks.
  • Expertise with Selenium webdriver for UI automation
  • Outstanding attention to detail and strong communication skills
  • A demonstrated, genuine AI-first approach to engineering. Using AI to move faster, build fluency across the stack, and contribute well beyond your core specialty.
