POSITION SUMMARY:
- Reporting to the Lead, Creative, the Multimedia and Visual Communications Specialist is a creative-thinker and multi-tasker who knows how to move quickly to capture and tell engaging visual stories.
- The Specialist will be responsible for concepting/storyboarding, shooting, and editing photo and video content for web and social platforms that drives engagement and supports team KPIs. Bringing new ideas to the table to help us continuously test and improve.
- Responsibilities include shooting and editing videography and photography; coordinating, sourcing and managing freelance photo and video shoots nationwide; video editing using Adobe Premier, After Effects and social editing tools; light animation for graphics and text; and management of creative assets
- They should possess a "newsroom" mentality (fast-paced, quick turnaround), and a deep understanding of social media, staying tapped into best practices and social trends.
- They’ll tell stories in the Petco Love voice that help people feel inspired and emotionally connected to our work and our brand.
- They should be comfortable developing and producing creative content across multiple platforms that inspires viewers, helps distinguish our brand and compels individuals to donate and amplify our message.
- The ideal candidate will be a gifted storyteller and have proven track record engaging people on various platforms through exceptional editorial storytelling skills.
- A background in capturing and editing photo and video and strong communication skills are essential.
- The Specialist will be expected to leverage digital tools, technology and platforms to enhance their storytelling and connect with Petco Love’s audience. They should have experience using social networks and have a strong understanding of what content is engaging on these platforms and be able to identify and leverage trends.
- The role will include social creative concept and strategy development, photo and video editing, asset coordination, and content-related project management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produce content to support Petco Love and its campaigns, initiatives and programs.
- Shoot and edit photos and videos.
- Create shot lists, story outlines and conduct interviews.
- Coordinate and manage photo and video shoots internally and using external freelancers across the country.
- Manage and organize asset library in Brandfolder.
- Use brand voice and style to write and produce compelling content as assigned that meets established goals and expectations.
- Actively seek out and help define new creative possibilities for sharing the stories of adoption partners, grant recipients, donors, adopters and Petco.
- Create materials to support our in-store campaigns and other initiatives.
- Work collaboratively to ensure messaging and design work well in support of both Petco Love and Petco Brands.
- In collaboration with the Petco Love marketing team develop video content ideas for social media to drive and improve engagement.
- Continuously share key recommendations for improvements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum 5 years of experience in photo and video production, and proven success in social media content development with a portfolio of examples.
- Proficient in capturing and editing both video and still images
- A strong writer and excellent communicator, able to write engaging story outlines/storyboards and add compelling contextual copy to draw a viewer deeper into the content
- Training and experience in how to tell a story using words, images, video or audio and the technical know-how to effectively execute.
- Ability to demonstrate the personal and emotional impact of our work, as well as the data surrounding the measurable outcomes.
- Ability to effectively track down and interview an adoption partner, grant recipient, donor, pet parents who were reunited through Petco Love Lost, or Petco partner to develop a story.
- Fluency in Adobe Products such as; Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, and social editing tools like Canva, Edits and Adobe Express as well as Microsoft Office Suite
- Has design sensibilities and solid understanding of design principles and working within a brand guide.
- Proficiency creating content using trends and best practices for platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Linkedin. Plus, knowledge of live streaming technologies.
- Strong ability to build and develop relationships with internal stakeholders, donors, volunteers, and teammates.
- Nimbleness, positive, can-do attitude.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time to complete them accurately and on schedule.
- Willingness to embrace change and to adapt strategy on the fly.
- Willingness to listen to and incorporate feedback from others.
- Flexibility to deal with unanticipated projects that have tight turnaround times by adjusting schedules for other projects and clearly communicating those changes to stakeholders and teammates.
- Self-motivated, good at taking initiative, excited to try new things and comfortable operating under a degree of ambiguity.
- Willingness to travel to capture a story.
- Passionate about animal welfare and the Petco Love mission.
