Boeing Phantom Works is seeking an Experienced/Lead Systems Engineer with expertise in standards-based networking, network management, and IT skills, particularly within Government/Military secure network architectures. The role involves network architecture design, configuration, security services, and potentially cloud-based network services, utilizing both COTS and open-source solutions. A U.S. Secret Security Clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Broad standards-based networking, network management, and IT skills, preferably having worked with Government / Military secure network architectures and appliances.
  2. Knowledge of network architecture to include router and switch selection, placement, and configuration, algorithm familiarity and employment relative to IP network and WAN internetwork architectures and Ethernet LAN architectures.
  3. Familiar with the employment of security services and technologies for both enterprise and government applications.
  4. Ability to work with both internal Boeing network services (BEN, LabNet) for supporting lab activities, as well as supporting network design for specific program opportunities (e.g. JWI, Hybrid SATCOM).
  5. Having some experience with utilizing and setting up cloud-based network services a plus.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications
  • Strong networking engineering background with standards-based networking, network management, and IT skills.
  • Experience with network architecture design and configuration, including routers, switches, IP/WAN internetwork architectures, and Ethernet LAN architectures.
  • Knowledge of network security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/protection systems, encryption, and cross-domain solutions.

Nice to have

  • 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience with Government/Military secure network architectures and appliances.
  • Familiarity with COTS networking equipment from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto Networks.
  • Knowledge of routing protocols and advanced networking methods, including RIP, OSPF, PIM, BGP, MANET, multicast, and Internet routing protocols.
  • Experience with cloud-based or software-defined networking solutions, such as SDN, SASE, SSE, SD-WAN, and FWaaS.
  • Experience with open-source networking implementations, such as FRR and OpenVSwitch.
