This role is for a PIP Attorney at State Farm, handling litigation and legal assignments related to PIP matters. The attorney will manage a caseload from inception through discovery, motion practice, and trial, working in a hybrid environment. Requires a JD, active New Jersey law license, and experience with PIP cases and Forthright arbitration rules.

  1. Handle litigation and other legal assignments in accordance with guidelines established by the Law Department
  2. Handles a high-volume caseload of PIP matters in both Forthright Arbitration Forum and Superior Court
  3. Handles a caseload from inception through discovery, motion practice, and trial in a fast-paced environment committed to quality of work

Skills

Required

  • J.D. from an A.B.A. Accredited Law School with excellent academic credentials
  • Must have an active law license to practice in the state of New Jersey and a member in good standing with the State Bar of New Jersey
  • 3+ years experience handling PIP cases from inception to conclusion preferred
  • Knowledge of Forthright arbitration rules is required
  • Knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law commensurate with level of experience
  • Experience directing support staff on clerical and administrative matters related to arbitration and lawsuit handling
  • File ownership
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently with cases in electronic form
  • Working knowledge of a Case Management system
  • Working Knowledge of a Document Storage system

Nice to have

  • Experience with other defense litigation is helpful, but not required
