Netflix Animation Studios is seeking a Junior Post Engineer in Vancouver to provide front-line support for editorial suites, story and review rooms, and screening theatres. The role involves troubleshooting complex specialty spaces, operating control systems, and maintaining color pipelines. Responsibilities include Tier 1 support for various software and hardware, setup and operation for screenings and events, and supporting media systems and workflows. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of experience in AV, Post Production, Broadcast, or VFX/Animation environments with hands-on experience supporting theaters and edit suites.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide Tier 1 troubleshooting and operational support for: Editorial suites (Avid Media Composer), Story and Review Rooms, Theater and other specialty screening spaces, Audio suites (Avid Pro Tools)
  2. Diagnose and resolve first-line issues related to: Avid Media Composer and Avid Pro Tools, Autodesk RV and other VFX/animation review tools, Q-SYS-controlled systems (routing, presets, room states, monitoring), Playback systems, operator workstations, and peripherals
  3. Set up, operate, and tear down for: Internal screenings and dailies, Production reviews in our theater and review rooms, External screenings, previews, and Q&A sessions
  4. Support day-to-day operation of media and review systems used in animation and VFX pipelines, including: Avid editorial workflows, Autodesk RV and other review tools
  5. Perform regular room and system health checks; log issues, resolutions, and follow-ups

Skills

Required

  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar role within AV, Post Production, Broadcast, or VFX/Animation environments
  • Hands-on experience supporting theaters, screening rooms, edit suites, or review spaces
  • Strong familiarity with animation or VFX post-production workflows (editorial, reviews, dailies, deliveries)
  • Working knowledge of Xenon digital cinema projectors (operation, calibration and basic troubleshooting)
  • Working knowledge of Q-SYS or similar room automation / DSP systems
  • Working knowledge of Avid Media Composer and Avid Pro Tools in a shared or networked environment
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk RV and related VFX/animation playback tools
  • Solid understanding of audio and video signal flow (routing, patching, monitoring)
  • Solid understanding of basic networking concepts (IP addressing, connectivity, basic diagnostics)
  • Comfort with other VFX/post software and willingness to learn new tools as needed
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot OS and application issues at a Tier 1 level
  • Strong customer service mindset and clear, concise communication with non-technical users
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow and improve documentation and standard procedures
  • Ability to stay composed and effective in live events and high-pressure situations
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as production and event schedules require
  • Collaborative, curious, and eager to grow into more advanced post engineering responsibilities

Nice to have

  • Experience in colour workflows and colour management
  • Working with calibrated displays and digital cinema projectors
  • Understanding of colour spaces and transforms (e.g., SDR/HDR workflows, PQ, HLG, Rec.709, P3)
