Power Development Engineer

This role focuses on the mechanical and electrical scoping of power systems for an AI infrastructure company. The engineer will support project planning, contribute to the design and specification of power generation equipment, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. The role is within an AI company but is not directly building AI models or systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support the development phase of comprehensive project plans, including technical design, equipment and material specification ensuring budget and schedule alignment.
  2. Contribute to regular project status meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  3. Contribute to the design and specification of mechanical and electrical systems for Power systems projects, including but not limited to power generation equipment, transformers, and switchgear.
  4. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards, codes, and regulations.
  5. Develop and review technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in industrial environments
  • Experience in power generation and distribution
  • Power System Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of power systems, control systems, and safety standards
  • Experience with electrical equipment design, procurement, and installation
  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes and regulations (e.g., NEC)
  • Proven ability to be a contributing member in a high performing team
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Flexibility to travel to field locations up to 25%, or as required
  • This position is a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience in power plant or substation design is highly advantageous
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Renewable Energy Experience: Experience with renewable energy technologies.
