Figure AI is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to design and test hardware for their humanoid robot. Responsibilities include developing power architectures, designing and validating PCBAs for power converters and motor controllers, supporting design reviews, and assisting with system integration and testing. Requirements include a degree in Electrical Engineering, 3+ years of experience, knowledge of power converter topologies and control theory, and experience with low voltage DC/DC converters or motor controllers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop conceptual power architectures and conduct trade studies to support key design decisions
  2. Design and validate PCBAs for critical components of the humanoid like power converters and motor controllers
  3. Support design reviews (schematics, layouts, etc)
  4. Support system integration and test activities by contributing to test execution and debugging

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • Knowledge of power converter topologies and control theory
  • Experience working with low voltage (<60V) DC/DC power converters or motor controllers
  • Experience sizing and designing discrete power electronics (controllers, gate drivers, MOSFETs, inductors, XFRMs, caps, sensing, etc)

Nice to have

  • Experience with Altium
  • Experience with PCB layout, designing for power converters and EMC mitigations
  • Experience simulating power electronic circuits
  • Experience with high voltage applications and protection circuitry
  • Experience working with embedded control systems and/or digital power control
  • Strong knowledge of C or Python
