Power Electronics - Staff Electrical Engineer (r4479)

Shield AI Shield AI · Defense · Dallas, TX +2 · X-BAT Engineering - Avionics

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Power Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of high-performance power systems for their aircraft programs. This role involves defining architectures, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring power electronics meet rigorous demands in harsh environments. Responsibilities include full-cycle hardware development from concept to testing, PCB ownership, and cross-functional collaboration.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own flight critical power sub-system design for X-BAT
  2. Design power electronics for the high voltage and low voltage systems. This includes inverters, DC-DC converters, battery management, and other power electronics
  3. Harden the designs for harsh environments such as shock/vibe, high reliability, radiation, and high-altitude
  4. Work on power sub-systems and designs for both low power (<1 kW) and high power (>10 kW)
  5. Full-cycle hardware development: Own the entire flow — concept, modeling, worst case analysis, schematic capture, simulation, prototyping, design reiteration for improving design maturity, testing and validation
