Operate and maintain power generation systems, including boilers and associated auxiliary equipment. Responsibilities include monitoring operations, performing inspections, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Requires a City of Seattle Steam Engineer's License Grade 2 and experience in boiler operation and maintenance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Operate boilers, and may operate engines and boiler associated auxiliary equipment.
  2. Read gauges, meters, and charts to track boiler operations.
  3. Monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels.
  4. Activate valves to change the amount of water, air, and fuel in boilers.
  5. Fire coal furnaces or feed boilers, using gas feeds or oil pumps.

Skills

Required

  • City of Seattle Steam Engineer's License Grade 2
  • boiler operation and maintenance experience
  • ability to lift, push and pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift

Nice to have

  • stand, twist, bend, kneel and occasional crawling within an 8 hour shift
  • work in noisy environments while completing tasks
