Seeking a Power Systems Engineer to support AWS data centers by developing advanced electrical systems, microgrid implementations, and optimization efforts. The role involves working on challenging problems across multiple teams, driving technical decisions, and developing technical strategy for power and energy configurations. Responsibilities include understanding data center power demands, grid integration, microgrid design, and providing input to engineering teams for design revisions and upgrades.

What you'd actually do

  1. You understand current trends in data center power demands and grid integration of large loads
  2. Have a deep understanding of analytical methods for evaluating power demands throughout the data center architecture and means to maximize capacity and utilization
  3. Understand grid interconnection standards and requirements, including working on microgrid design and controls, and distributed energy resources
  4. Understanding the design and functionality of the global data center fleet, including existing, upcoming, and unique site designs
  5. Provide input and direction to Data Center Engineering teams for design revisions for new data centers as well as to Field Engineering for operational data center upgrades to meet critical strategic requirements

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • Experience and knowledge of power generations equipment, systems, controls, including, but not limited to; diesel generators, distributed energy resources, gas turbines, battery energy storage systems.
  • Experience working on cross-functional technical teams and collaborating with multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Possess data analytics skills, data querying skills/language, scripting, and comfort with working in vast amounts of data in new and ev
