Power Systems Engineer role focused on designing, developing, and implementing software solutions for generator control switchgear systems. Responsibilities include converting legacy PLC projects, executing designs, providing technical support, and troubleshooting customer issues. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and experience with PLC/HMI programming and power systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Identify retrofit opportunities, scope projects, and support proposal creation via Dealer and Factory teams
  2. Perform technical risk management for field performance of assigned projects.
  3. Convert legacy PLC projects to new platforms and validate for accuracy.
  4. Execute and support design, test, manufacture and commissioning of low and medium voltage switchgear controls retrofits for systems that control multiple generators which parallel to one or more utility sources.
  5. Provide direction to CAD designers to create wiring and assembly drawings for generator paralleling controls.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET)
  • Experience working across multiple disciplines, including contractors, consultants, engineers, and end users
  • Working knowledge of power systems, including: Installation, troubleshooting, and design of switchgear, ATS, and generator systems
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Experience with automation and controls, including: Installation, troubleshooting, design, and programming of PLC-based control systems
  • Use of PLCs, HMIs, PC-based controls, and distributed control systems
  • General computer and software troubleshooting
  • PLC software experience with one or more of the following: Modicon / Schneider Electric, Rockwell / Allen-Bradley, Siemens, GE
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience, or 4 years of equivalent work experience
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Nice to have

  • HMI software experience is a plus, including: Rockwell (RSView / FactoryTalk), Siemens, Vijeo, iFix, Wonderware
