Intern position in Engine Performance and Controls at Caterpillar, focusing on thermodynamics, combustion processes, supercharging systems, engine control, testing, validation, and data analysis. Responsibilities include developing and validating combustion processes, planning and executing experiments, assisting with supercharging systems, investigating engine control concepts, validating engine control software, developing tools for data preparation or simulation using Python, analyzing large datasets, preparing and coordinating simulation tasks, and documenting/presenting results.

What you'd actually do

  1. Development and validation of combustion processes on single and multi-cylinder test benches
  2. Planning, execution, and evaluation of experiments
  3. Assisting with the design and validation of supercharging systems
  4. Investigation and evaluation of different engine control concepts on multi-cylinder test benches
  5. Validation of engine control software using MiL/HiL and on the test bench
  6. Development of tools for data preparation or simulation with Python
  7. Analysis and preparation of large datasets from various sources
  8. Preparation and coordination of simulation tasks
  9. Documentation and presentation of your results to a technical audience

Skills

Required

  • Enrolled student in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable degree program
  • Very good German and good English language skills
  • Engaged, curious, team-oriented, and willing to contribute own ideas
