Pre-construction Manager

This role is for a Pre-Construction Manager at Crusoe, an AI infrastructure company focused on energy and compute. The manager will lead the pre-construction phase of hyperscale data center projects, overseeing planning, budgeting, scheduling, stakeholder coordination, site evaluation, bidding, contract management, and permitting. The role requires extensive experience in large-scale construction project management, with a focus on mission-critical infrastructure.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and manage the comprehensive pre-construction process, ensuring a seamless flow from conceptual design through to the commencement of onsite construction.
  2. Develop and maintain high-fidelity project schedules, multi-million dollar budgets, and rigorous risk assessments to ensure project feasibility and financial integrity.
  3. Orchestrate efforts between architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure technical alignment and maximum operational efficiency.
  4. Execute thorough site evaluations and feasibility studies to validate infrastructure readiness and environmental compatibility for our hyperscale campuses.
  5. Oversee the preparation of detailed bid packages, manage the competitive bidding process, and lead contract negotiations with key vendors.

Skills

Required

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience managing the pre-construction phases of large-scale construction projects
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering planning phases for high-complexity builds, ideally within the hyperscale data center or mission-critical sectors
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, with a focus on precision in budgeting, scheduling, and risk management
  • Strong ability to engage, influence, and negotiate with diverse stakeholders to build and maintain effective, long-term partnerships
  • A deep, fundamental understanding of modern construction processes, materials, and heavy industrial methods
  • High proficiency in construction management software and advanced project scheduling tools
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field

Nice to have

  • 10+ years of experience specifically within data center infrastructure or high-voltage power projects
  • Holding a PMP, LEED AP, or equivalent industry-recognized certification
  • Experience or strong interest in incorporating sustainable materials and energy-efficient designs into the pre-construction phase
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Business Administration (MBA)
  • A demonstrated passion for the growth of AI and the computing infrastructure required to support its future
