Northrop Grumman is seeking a Precision Electromechanical Assembler 3 to perform various operations in handling and assembling precision electromechanical products like navigation instruments, gyros, accelerometers, and sliprings. The role involves building cables, connectors, installing electronic components, advanced soldering, and working with wiring according to instructions. Responsibilities include assembly at the Top Assembly level, installing wiring harnesses, Circuit Card Assemblies, and Power Supplies, and collaborating with the engineering team to improve assembly instructions. Requires high attention to detail, accuracy, and physical ability to work with microscopes and chemicals. Basic qualifications include a High School diploma, 4 years of experience in soldering and mechanical assembly, experience with SAP, and the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance. Preferred qualifications include more direct assembly experience and a current Secret Clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Performs a variety of operations of handling and assembling precision electromechanical products such as highly sensitive navigation instruments i.e., gyros, accelerometers and a great deal of mechanical assemblies such as larger sliprings, gimbal assemblies and external covers, including building cables, connectors, and installing other electronic components.
  2. This position requires immense attention to detail and accuracy, advanced soldering skills, advanced skills working with wiring following instructions to ensure precision measurements, cutting, and preparing the wire(s) for final connection.
  3. Assembly at the highest build level, the Top Assembly level i.e., the Navigation Unit or Measuring System installing wiring harnesses, Circuit Card Assemblies and Power Supplies while maintaining the manufacturing build documentation.
  4. Great communication skills are required to work closely, side by side with engineering team. This relationship and interaction with the engineers for assembling is to create a new or to make changes to existing Assembly and Build Instructions implementing improved method or process or change tolerance.

Skills

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience
  • proficient in the English language with ability to read, write and verbally communicate using English
  • Experience using and following Assembly Instructions, Engineering Instructions, Build Documents, Procedure and Processes
  • Experience working with SAP or Equivalent MRP (Material Resource Planning) System
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Soldering (expert)
  • Advance Experience with Mechanical Assembly, using of torquing devices and techniques, hand tools, manual and electronic measuring devices, rulers, calipers, etc.
  • Advanced Experience with wire as in measuring, cutting, crimping, tinning and soldering
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SECRET Clearance after starting

  • 5 years of directly related Assembly experience
  • Currently holds or is holding Secret Clearance or has held a Secret Clearance in the past 6 months
  • Advanced Knowledge and >5 years’ Experience using Assembly Instructions, Build Documents, and following Procedures & Processes
  • Highly Motivated, Self-starting, Responsible and Dependable person
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft applications, i.e., Word, and Excel
  • Understands and has 4+ years of experience using SAP or _Equivalent_ MRP (Material Resource Planning) system
  • Has worked in a FOD Critical Environment
