Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Project Engineer (Principal or Senior Principal) to support programs in Final Assembly areas within manufacturing. The role involves leading manufacturing engineering tasks, monitoring metrics, collaborating with various teams, leading root cause corrective actions, identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities, and coordinating manufacturing readiness. Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or related STEM area, with 5-8+ years of experience in manufacturing/process engineering or production, experience in electronics assembly, and project/people leadership. Familiarity with DOE, SPC, and Six Sigma is required. A Secret Level Security Clearance is also required.

What you'd actually do

  1. acting as lead, and primary point of contact, for all manufacturing engineering tasks that are required to achieve program objectives
  2. monitoring metrics for product performance, quality, delivery, and cost; highlighting detractors and gathering resources to resolve them
  3. collaborating closely with process engineers, functional groups supporting the shop floor (quality engineering, manufacturing supervision, production, operations, design engineering, program management), the program office, and the customer to ensure manufacturing plan is defined and executed; leading efforts to remove obstacles and constraints to execution
  4. leading root cause corrective action efforts
  5. identifying continuous improvement opportunities; creating solutions, acquiring funding and leading implementation

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related STEM area
  • 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Production, or related area (Principal) or 8+ years (Senior Principal)
  • Experience in an electronics assembly manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing or leading projects and/or people
  • Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE)
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Familiarity with 6 sigma concepts for process development and control
  • Fluency in MS Office software applications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Level Security Clearance
  • US Citizenship

Nice to have

  • MESA and/or ATP program experience
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Hands-on experience with electronics assembly processes and related equipment
  • Familiarity with aircraft/airframe assembly
  • Familiarity with J-STD and MIL-STD requirements
  • Experience with composite bonding or fiber optic assembly
  • 3D Solid Modeling experience using a CAD software
  • 3D modeling experience with assembly tooling, concept development, and tool/fixture creation
  • Experience with the Teamcenter Manufacturing tool suite and Manufacturing Process Planning
  • Robotics or automation experience
