Principal Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer

RTX RTX · Aerospace · east hartford, CT +1 · Engineering

This Principal Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer role at RTX focuses on developing and enhancing design methodologies and tools for additive manufacturing, including CAD, implicit modeling, and topology optimization. The role involves creating custom modules and scripts, defining toolchain interconnections, and executing Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) projects to support business units in adopting additively manufactured components. The position also requires establishing relationships, leading proposal development, and providing training and knowledge transfer.

What you'd actually do

  1. Development, demonstration, and documentation of design methodologies and tools for additive manufacturing including conventional CAD and implicit modeling-based approaches
  2. Enhancement of design tools through the development of custom modules and scripts
  3. Topology Optimization for generation of geometries enabled by additive manufacturing across structural, thermal, or hydrodynamic domains
  4. Execution of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) projects to support business unit evaluation and adoption of additively manufactured components and systems
  5. Definition of AM software tools and methodologies for interconnection of individual tools into a unified toolchain
