Principal Applied Scientist- AI

UiPath is seeking a Principal Applied Scientist to lead machine learning research and development for enterprise automation. This role involves innovating in NLP, computer vision, and multimodal learning, defining roadmaps for ML infrastructure, and mentoring teams. The ideal candidate has a PhD or MS, 5+ years of experience, and expertise in ML research and deployment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the design and development of state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning systems for real-world production environments.
  2. Innovate in NLP, NLU, NLG, computer vision, and multi-modal learning to drive breakthroughs in software automation.
  3. Define and drive the roadmap for scalable ML infrastructure and research-to-production pipelines.
  4. Architect experiments, conduct in-depth benchmarking, and analyze large-scale datasets to evaluate and improve model performance.
  5. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and research teams to integrate ML systems into UiPath products.

Skills

Required

  • PhD or MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in machine learning research and large-scale system deployment.
  • Deep expertise in areas such as natural language processing, computer vision, multimodal learning, or reinforcement learning.
  • Demonstrated success leading ML projects from research to production.
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • proficiency with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX.
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets and cloud-based ML infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication skills

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in automation, RPA, or related enterprise AI applications is a plus.
