This role focuses on building industry-leading Agentic AI systems, including models, infrastructure, and applications, within AWS. The scientist will contribute to advancements in NLU, AI-assisted code development, reasoning with LLMs, LLM training/fine-tuning, and applied ML, impacting millions of customers through AI-powered products and services. The role involves developing technical breakthroughs, mentoring junior scientists, managing a small team, defining technology strategy, prototyping, and communicating R&D progress.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop technical breakthroughs in agentic infrastructure and applications
  2. Mentor and guide junior scientists.
  3. Manage a small team of scientists
  4. Develop technology strategy and roadmap supporting product development
  5. Develop prototypes for key technology, oversee the productization of the prototype, and develop critical assessment for the prototype

Skills

Required

  • PhD, or Master's degree and 10+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
  • 8+ years of building models for business application experience
  • Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
  • Experience in any of the following areas: AI (NLP or multi-modality models), Deep Learning, LLM model training, graph learning, software engineering.

Nice to have

  • Experience using Unix/Linux
  • Hands-on experience in professional software development
  • Experience with agentic observability, simulators
  • Experience with managing junior scientists
  • Track record of delivering innovation to production
