This role is for a Principal Construction Project Manager focused on overseeing the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring projects meet schedule, quality, and design requirements. The role involves managing base building and MEP infrastructure, coordinating with tenant fit-out teams, evaluating and managing project risks, and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. It requires strong knowledge of data center construction, project management, and leadership skills, with a minimum of 6 years of experience in construction project management for data centers or colocation infrastructure.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and manage the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  2. develop a deep understanding of the project to evaluate the risk profiles associated with timely delivery, address gaps in risk identification and mitigation and inform the business of associated potential impacts.
  3. develop mitigation strategies for major project risks to ensure project success.
  4. Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers, facilitating clear and effective communication.
  5. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers to ensure timely delivery of milestones.

Skills

Required

  • Strong knowledge of base building data center construction- civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing.
  • Project management: for startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of data center design, construction, and operational requirements, with a focus on cutting-edge technologies and sustainability.
  • Project Management: Proven expertise in managing large-scale data center construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead under pressure, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals.
  • Budget Management: Proficiency in creating, managing, and optimizing project budgets to ensure cost-effective use of resources.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and costs.
  • Vendor Management: Extensive experience in selecting, negotiating, and managing contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement and clear project updates.
