Principal, Disaster Recovery (remote)

CrowdStrike CrowdStrike · Enterprise · United States · Remote

CrowdStrike is seeking a Principal Disaster Recovery professional to lead their enterprise disaster recovery strategy and planning across corporate IT and product engineering technology stacks. This role involves developing and enforcing DR standards, creating system-level DR plans, and identifying/remediating DR gaps. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in enterprise-scale DR planning, particularly for cloud-native product engineering environments.

What you'd actually do

  1. Enterprise DR Strategy: Own and drive CrowdStrike's disaster recovery strategy across corporate IT and product engineering, ensuring a consistent, enterprise-wide approach to recovery planning that accounts for the distinct characteristics of each technology domain
  2. DR Standards & Governance: Develop, maintain, and enforce enterprise DR standards including RTO/RPO tiering, recovery plan requirements, backup and redundancy expectations, and configuration standards across infrastructure, applications, and product services. Establish and maintain standards for DR plan documentation, ensuring plans are accurate, current, executable under pressure, and owned by the appropriate technical teams
  3. Technical DR Planning: Partner directly with IT and Engineering teams to develop, review, and maintain system-level DR plans for critical technology assets — translating enterprise standards into technically sound, executable recovery procedures specific to each system or service. Lead the process of defining, validating, and maintaining recovery time and recovery point objectives across the technology portfolio, ensuring alignment between business criticality, technical capability, and recovery commitments
  4. Practice Leadership: Mentor, coach, and guide engineering and IT teams on advanced DR best practices and resilience engineering principles.
  5. Gap Identification & Risk Management: Continuously assess the DR posture of critical systems, identify gaps between current recovery capabilities and defined objectives, and drive remediation through appropriate technology teams

  • Proven ability to engage credibly across both corporate IT infrastructure (networking, servers, SaaS platforms, end-user systems) and product engineering environments (cloud-native applications, microservices, distributed systems)
  • Deep experience developing and maintaining system-level DR plans, defining RTO/RPO objectives, and managing backup, replication, and recovery configurations for complex technology portfolios
  • Experience creating and maintaining enterprise DR standards, policies, and governance frameworks that can be consistently applied across various technology teams
  • Demonstrated ability to drive DR planning adoption and accountability across engineering and IT organizations
