Principal Automation Engineer - Instrument & Controls role at Eli Lilly, focusing on the design, application, and troubleshooting of instrumentation within pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. What you'd actually do

  1. Champion a strong safety culture, mentor and coach others, and utilize engineering and automation fundamental principles in design and problem solving.
  2. Support and provide project teams with instrument subject matter expertise to define delivery strategies with A&E firms including processes to create and review specifications, receipt verification, procurement plans, and calibration programs.
  3. Participate in basic and detailed design that also includes staffing, statements of work, supplier management, and delivery strategies for instrumentation, maintenance package development, review instrument specifications, review vendor packages, and maintenance management system development.
  4. Develop and build capabilities within the Houston site automation team.
  5. Support the development of site procedures related to instrumentation calibrations and associated programs.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related applicable Science Degree
  • 3+ years of experience in Instrument Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing
  • Fluent in common instrumentation used in pharmaceutical manufacturing related to instrument specifications, measurement capability, and overall loop performance

Nice to have

  • Experience with automation platforms including Rockwell Automation and Emerson DeltaV
  • Experience with maintenance management systems including IBM Maximo or related system
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others
