Principal Engineer, Lubrication Systems (p4) - Onsite

RTX RTX · Aerospace · east hartford, CT +1 · Engineering

This Principal Engineer role focuses on the analysis and development of lubrication systems for gas turbine engines within the aerospace industry. Responsibilities include conducting detailed analyses, performing component and engine testing, utilizing 1D flow modeling, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance, safety, and optimal oil conditioning. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with relevant experience and emphasizes advanced systems design and analysis methods.

What you'd actually do

  1. Analyze and Develop Oil System Characteristics: Conduct detailed analyses and develop functional characteristics of the oil system in high-complexity environments, ensuring system performance meets or exceeds established engineering benchmarks by project deadlines.
  2. Utilize Advanced Tools for Testing and Analysis: Deploy state-of-the-art systems analysis tools, perform component testing in rigs, and execute and analyze results from full-scale engine testing to validate system designs within the designated project schedule. Utilize 1D flow modeling to analyze and design gas turbine lubrication and thermal management systems, use field data to monitor fleet health, support customers, and specify engine validation test plans, reviewing engine and test rig data, and matching analytical models to engine data
  3. Contribute to Integrated Product Teams (IPTs): Actively participate as a lubrication and thermal management system discipline member in module-level IPTs, while providing key contributions to the engine-level systems IPT chaired by the chief engineer, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
  4. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Interface with engine mechanical systems, air systems, and performance teams to ensure seamless integration of oil system designs across disciplines while meeting technical performance goals.
  5. Advance Cutting-Edge Design and Analysis: Apply innovative systems design and analysis methods to address complex challenges, delivering impactful technical contributions within the project timelines while expanding expertise across the entire engine system.
