Principal Test Facility Engineer (Swing) at Northrop Grumman responsible for life cycle and root cause failure analysis of steam facility equipment, designing new systems, and performing thermal analysis. Requires a STEM Bachelor's degree and experience in mechanical/electrical engineering, propulsion/power plant machinery, and fluid/thermodynamic systems. Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform life cycle and root cause failure analysis of steam facility equipment, including boilers, cooling towers, condensers, and other high-temperature and high-pressure systems.
  2. Research, plan, design, and develop new systems and operating profiles to increase test facility efficiency.
  3. Perform thermal and heat transfer analysis on various test facility systems and components.
  4. Support testing of the main propulsion and power generation equipment.
  5. Prepare technical reports and present to Test Facility Engineering Management.

Skills

Required

  • STEM Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years of mechanical and/or electrical engineering work experience
  • Experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Proven Competency in the operation of propulsion and power plant machinery
  • Fluid and Thermodynamic Systems experience
  • Project Management Acuity
  • MS Office competency
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required

Nice to have

  • STEM Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Test Facility and/or Power Generation/Chemical Facility operational experience
  • FEA modeling experience
  • Design Software Acuity (AutoCAD, Cero, Solidworks, or equivalent)
