This Principal Engineer role focuses on leading the system architecture and development of autonomous X-ray systems and intelligent imaging workflows within GE Healthcare. The position involves integrating multi-modal sensors, control systems, and embedded hardware-software solutions, applying AI/automation to enhance system intelligence and usability, and defining human-machine interaction for clinical workflows. The role requires strong expertise in robotics, autonomous systems, multi-sensor integration, control systems, and embedded systems, with a focus on safety-critical design and technical leadership.

What you'd actually do

Skills

Required

  • Master's degree in robotics, control systems, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field
  • 10+ years of industry experience in robotics, autonomous systems, or advanced automation technologies
  • Designing and deploying real-world autonomous or semi-autonomous systems
  • Multi-sensor integration, including vision, depth, force, and environmental sensing technologies
  • Control systems, motion planning, and real-time system architectures
  • Embedded systems and hardware-software co-design
  • Human-machine interaction (HMI) design and user-centric system development
  • Safety-critical system design and regulatory constraints
  • Technical leadership in delivering complex, cross-disciplinary engineering programs
  • System-level architecture for intelligent physical systems
  • AI/ML techniques applied to perception, decision-making, or control in physical environments
  • Leading or mentoring senior engineers and driving technical direction
  • English communication skills
