Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Quality Engineer / Sr. Principal Quality Engineer in Salt Lake City, UT. This role involves developing and maintaining quality evaluation and control systems, collaborating with engineering and manufacturing, designing inspection and testing processes, performing statistical analysis, and supporting corrective action boards. The ideal candidate will have technical knowledge in quality specifications and standards, strong communication and collaboration skills, and proficiency with MS Office. Requires a STEM degree and experience with QMS (ISO 9000, AS 9100, etc.), with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product
  2. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place and maintained.
  3. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications
  4. Perform production floor activities associated with quality, production, and test activities, while assisting in the corrective action board (CAB) including data gathering and analysis
  5. Possess technical knowledge in specifications/standards, drawing interpretation, measurement and analysis methods, process and product assessments, and corrective action methodology

Skills

Required

  • STEM degree
  • Quality, Engineering and/or Manufacturing experience
  • QMS experience (ISO 9000, ISO 9001, AS 9100, and/or IATF 16949)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • US Citizenship

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in STEM discipline
  • ISO 9001/AS9100 and internal auditing experience
  • Experience supporting the proposal process
  • Experience reviewing and capturing contractual requirements
  • Government contract requirements; FARS and DFARS experience
  • Experience reviewing and approving engineering changes
  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements
  • Institute for Printed Circuits (IPC) Standards and Publications experience
  • LEAN, Six Sigma, CI methodologies, Certified Green or Black Belt
  • Experience in an electronics assembly manufacturing environment
  • Active Secret Clearance
