Principal Software Development Engineer role focused on designing and implementing software solutions for USAF Open Architecture initiatives within Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems sector. What you'd actually do

  1. You will work with the Chief Architect and Systems Engineering lead to design architecture solutions supporting USAF Open Architecture development.

  3. You must have a firm understanding of traditional systems engineering concepts and methodologies and must be able to apply and adjust these concepts and methodologies to an accelerated process in the early stages of the engineering design.
  4. Participate in software development and integration in support of Research and Advanced Design programs
  5. Design, develop, and document software for mission planning solutions

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience developing software with C/C++/Python/Java/Rust
  • Experience with USAF Open Architecture development (UCI, OMS, etc.)
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • An active DoD Secret Clearance for consideration and the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

  • Experience integrating and debugging software on hardware
  • Experience working within an Agile environment
  • Experience with AFSIM simulation and modeling

  • Proficiency working in Linux and commands
  • Preference to work in software/hardware integration and rapid prototyping
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently and identify solutions to complex problems
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
