Principal Software Engineer focused on designing, developing, and maintaining embedded mission systems applications for safety-critical, real-time environments within the defense sector. Requires experience with C, C++, Python, and various real-time operating systems, along with a Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work in an innovative environment, on significantly diverse assignments, and in collaborative team settings across all levels
  2. Participate in the full software development life cycle including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products to our customers
  3. Architect and develop embedded mission systems software applications on a real time operating system
  4. Be a part of Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple software baselines

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of related experience; OR Masters degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related experience; OR PhD with 1 year of related experience
  • Developing software and scripts in C, Object Oriented C++ AND/OR Python for Safety-Critical applications/Systems
  • Performing software testing
  • Developing low-level software requirements
  • Architecting, Designing, Modeling (Rhapsody or Cameo), Implementing, Maintaining, integrating, Debugging, Verifying and Qualifying Safety-Critical Embedded Real Time Software written in OO C++ running on Real-Time Operating Systems such as: VxWorks, Integrity, AND/OR Real Time Embedded Linux
  • Static & Dynamic Code Analysis Tools and Fuzzing Tools such as: Coverity, Fortify, AND/OR SonarQube
  • Software Change Control, Change Management, and CI/CD tools such as: Atlassian tool suite, GitHub, GitLab, AND/OR Jenkins
  • Active DoD Secret level clearance OR Top Secret (in-scope), with the ability to obtain (and maintain) special program access (PAR) prior to commencement of employment.

  • Strong understanding of C and C++ languages including templates, memory storage, and compiler/linker
  • Ability to collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers and integration/test engineers to develop and maintain complex software systems
