The role involves concept generation, detailed 3D CAD design, fabrication drawings, and support during production for tooling. The engineer ensures tooling meets performance, quality, and safety requirements, acting as a liaison between engineering, manufacturing, and project management. Responsibilities include creating CAD models and drawings, developing fabrication requirements, providing technical support during fabrication, performing inspections, and resolving fabrication issues.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with internal customers and project teams to capture functional and performance requirements.
  2. Develop initial tooling concepts, feasibility studies, and cost–benefit analyses that address new and existing program needs.
  3. Create detailed 3D CAD models (NX preferred) and production 2D drawings specifying fit, form, and function.
  4. Develop fabrication requirements that incorporate standardized manufacturing instructions (ERP system), along with procurement specifications and inspection plans to guide the production process.
  5. Provide hands-on technical support to in-house manufacturing teams and vendors during fabrication.
