Principal Enterprise Architect role focused on modernizing and streamlining cloud infrastructure, particularly within GovCloud, ensuring performance, reliability, and security. The role involves assessing current architecture, managing FedRAMP documentation, providing guidance on cloud security and data protection, developing secure architecture frameworks, and creating a roadmap for GovCloud maturity. Requires deep expertise in enterprise infrastructure, cloud strategy across major providers, automation, and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

What you'd actually do

  1. Review Existing Architecture by conducting a thorough assessment of our current cloud architecture, with a particular focus on GovCloud.
  2. Oversee and manage the preparation of all necessary FedRAMP documentation, including the System Security Plan (SSP), Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), and other compliance artifacts.
  3. Provide architectural guidance on cloud security, network security, identity management, encryption, and data protection in line with NIST 800-53 and other relevant standards.
  4. Develop and implement secure architecture frameworks and solutions that adhere to FedRAMP Moderate or High Impact Level baseline
  5. Ensure Compliance and Security: This role will be pivotal in ensuring that our GovCloud environment meets all necessary federal compliance standards and is fortified against potential security threats. You will guide the implementation of these security measures.

Skills

Required

  • 12–14+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT and architecture
  • Deep expertise in enterprise infrastructure architectures spanning on-premises, virtualized, and cloud environments
  • Proven ability to lead enterprise-scale cloud architecture strategy across major providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), including design, integration with existing platforms, governance, and lifecycle management
  • Demonstrated leadership in evaluating existing, new, and emerging infrastructure technologies and defining adoption recommendations and reference architectures
  • Experience owning enterprise automation and infrastructure-as-code strategies to provision, patch, upgrade, and deploy infrastructure at scale
  • Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (IT, legal, security, and business units) to ensure alignment with federal requirements and security best practices
  • Outstanding presentation skills for communicating architectures and roadmaps to senior leadership
  • Leadership experience overseeing large-scale infrastructure initiatives, including modernization, migration, and platform transformation efforts
  • Broad, modern enterprise technology expertise with the ability to influence long-term architectural direction across the organization
