Principal Experience Designer

Autodesk Autodesk · Enterprise · AMER - Canada - Ontario - Toronto - University Ave, AMER - Canada - Ontario - Offsite +3

Principal Experience Designer to define interaction patterns for the Autodesk Assistant, an AI embedded across Autodesk products. This role will set the design direction for conversational, agentic, and visual interactions, aiming to make AI trustworthy and capable. Responsibilities include authoring the pattern library, mentoring designers, and partnering with leaders across Product, Engineering, and AI Research. Requires extensive UX design experience, a strong point of view on AI experience quality, and a track record of shipping generative AI products.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define the conversational, agentic, and visual interaction patterns that every Autodesk product team adopts when integrating the Autodesk Assistant, including reasoning visibility (chain-of-thought), action controls (cancel, retry, accept, undo), and citation and grounding experiences
  2. Author the Autodesk Assistant pattern library so teams across the portfolio adopt scalable, customizable patterns rather than building point solutions, and set what good looks like for AI experiences across Autodesk
  3. You’ll raise the bar for craft and responsible AI across the Autodesk Assistant program, defining and tracking the quality signals that tell us an agentic interaction earned its outcome
  4. Mentor designers on the platform team, and coach designers across Autodesk who are shipping Autodesk Assistant capabilities inside their own products
  5. Partner with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, and AI Research to shape Autodesk Assistant decisions across the portfolio, and push on frontier-model capabilities when the experience demands it
