This role designs manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, machining, and material handling. It involves optimizing machine arrangements for efficiency, designing fabrication sequences for tools and equipment, adapting designs to factory conditions, and incorporating inspection and test requirements. The role also involves inspecting equipment performance, initiating corrective actions, developing statistical process control techniques, providing DFM guidance, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Experience with CAD, NX, Costpoint, and Teamcenter is familiar.

What you'd actually do

  1. Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  2. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  3. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  4. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  5. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plans.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience
  • active US Government Secret (or above) security clearance
  • Experienced in creating, supporting & sustaining the use of Manufacturing Engineering System (MES) work instructions
  • Proficient in DFM
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, procedures work cell layout, production build sequence, tooling design, troubleshooting/corrective action, and quality assurance.
  • Experience adapting machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions

Nice to have

  • Familiarity working with CAD, NX, Costpoint and Teamcenter
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman processes
  • Ability to engage with cross functional teams
  • Confident presentation skills
