Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Mission Architect Engineer to join their Space Sector team. This role involves providing technical solutions for mission execution planning, contributing to the design and execution of risk reduction activities, and supporting modeling and simulation of these activities. The engineer will also assess system effectiveness and perform system-of-system trades for space mission architecture alternatives. A Top-Secret/SCI clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide technical solutions to enable the end state of the Mission Execution Planning Team against dynamic priorities and objectives in support of system effectiveness evaluations
  2. Contribute to design, planning, and execution of mission enabling risk reduction activities with customer and end user community
  3. Support the design, planning, and execution of activities within the end user community
  4. Support modeling and simulation of risk reduction activities with simulation capabilities and generate reports and assessments in support of on-orbit execution
  5. Perform system-of-system trades, modeling, simulation and analysis to assess space mission architecture alternatives for delivering a customer mission effect, data or capability as it fits within a broader campaign

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience or Master's degree with 3 years of professional experience or PhD with 1 year of professional experience
  • Active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance
  • Basic understanding of rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO)
  • Understanding of the design of dynamic satellite trajectories against constraints, restraints, and objectives
  • Experience operating satellite systems in a dynamic environment

Nice to have

  • Experience with RPO missions and the underpinning algorithms
  • Knowledge of operations and planning
  • Prior aerospace-related work experience for a U.S Government Agency or Contractor
  • Previous experience with flight hardware on operational systems
  • Experience in scripting languages and modeling tools (e.g. STK, Freeflyer, Python, STOL, etc)
