What you'd actually do

  1. Maintain smooth operation of LAN/WAN/VPNs.
  2. Plan, design, configure, and install network hardware in support of customer requirements.
  3. Maintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls, switches, WAN accelerators, etc.
  4. Propose solutions to management to help ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage are met, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
  5. Prepare and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
