Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Network Administrator with a Top Secret clearance to maintain and design network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN/VPNs, routers, firewalls, and switches. The role involves planning, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, and monitoring of network hardware and software, with frequent travel to support international programs. Requires a STEM degree, security certifications, and experience with Cisco networking equipment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Maintain efficient operation of LAN/WAN/VPNs.
  2. Plan, design, configure, and install network hardware in support of customer requirements.
  3. Maintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls, switches, gateways, etc.
  4. Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
  5. Create and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline
  • Current active DoD Top Secret level security clearance
  • Experience installing & maintaining Cisco brand networking equipment
  • Current Security+CE, CASP, CISSP, or similar DoD 8570/ 8140 security certification
  • CISCO CCNA 200-301 or Comptia Network + with the ability to achieve a CISCO CCNA 200-301 certification within 6 months
  • Ability to travel 50% plus
  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work after hours and on weekends as needed

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in STEM
  • Cisco CCNA 200-301 , ENCOR Core CCNP Exam 350-401, or CCIE certification
  • Knowledge of environmental monitoring tools (e.g., HBSS, Solar Winds, Splunk)
  • Experience using network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, Opnet, etc.)
  • Experience with Certification & Accreditation process
  • Experience giving technical presentations to technical and non-technical attendees
