Principal Product Engineer

Microsoft Microsoft · Big Tech · Mountain View, CA +4 · Silicon Engineering

This role is for a Principal Product Engineer focused on semiconductor IC development, manufacturing, fabrication, testing, and packaging. The responsibilities include driving pre-Si readiness for tests and features, optimizing ATE test programs, managing fuse requirements, and leading cross-functional teams. The candidate should have strong knowledge of ATE test program development, DFT, silicon fabrication, and product quality & reliability. Experience in high-performance computing, AI, GPUs, or CPUs is beneficial, but the core function is in hardware engineering and manufacturing, not AI model development or deployment.

What you'd actually do

  1. The position requires someone with experience in semiconductor IC development, IC manufacturing, fabrication, testing, and packaging.
  2. Drive pre-Si readiness for power, performance, Thermal and Power delivery (LDOs, Integrated VRs) related tests and features for successful bring up during power on. Drive Power and Performance tuning during post-Si phase in partnership with platform teams.
  3. Drive ATE test program implementation to optimize for SOC power/TDP. Work closely with platform/system engineers to drive necessary correlation work to enable such optimizations.
  4. Drive product manufacturing fuse requirements and end to end data flow for fusing across various test sockets.
  5. Successful candidates should have strong project leadership skills to manage external vendors, drive cross functional teams and drive sub-projects as part of larger development programs.
