Principal Product Manager, AI Builder Experiences

Expedia Expedia · Hospitality · Seattle, WA +1

Principal Product Manager for AI Builder Experiences at Expedia Group. This role focuses on building the next generation of AI-powered travel experiences and the underlying patterns for clarity, accuracy, and trust. The PM will identify AI-unlockable problems, prototype end-to-end AI experiences using LLMs and tools, evaluate new capabilities, and partner with engineering/data science to take prototypes to production. The role also involves defining reusable patterns, establishing success metrics, and communicating with senior leaders. Requires 10+ years of PM experience with AI/ML, technical depth, prototyping ability (Python/TypeScript), and a track record of launching 0->1 products. Experience with LLM ecosystems, trustworthy AI, and building scalable frameworks is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Identify high-impact traveler and partner problems that can be unlocked by AI, and frame them as clear, testable product bets.
  2. Rapidly prototype end‑to‑end AI experiences using available LLMs and tools (e.g., prompt design, tool/function calling, retrieval, simple UIs) to validate value and feasibility.
  3. Evaluate new capabilities from frontier labs and internal platforms, and translate them into concrete product concepts, demos, and proof‑of‑concepts.
  4. Partner closely with engineering, data science, and design to take successful prototypes to production, including instrumentation, experimentation, guardrails, and ongoing quality improvements.
  5. Define reusable patterns and primitives (e.g., explanations, preview/undo flows, context continuity) that can be adopted across teams and surfaces.
