Principal Product Manager, Personalization Lead

Microsoft Microsoft · Big Tech · Redmond, WA +2 · Product Management

The Principal Product Manager will own the personalization layer for Microsoft Commerce, defining the strategy for user shopping profiles, memory, signals, and personalization models that shape ranking, recommendations, and guidance across various Microsoft surfaces like Copilot, Bing, and Edge. This role involves translating strategy into data and model requirements, running experiments, and partnering with engineering, data science, and privacy teams to deliver personalized shopping experiences at scale.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define the long-term product vision and roadmap for Commerce personalization — the shopping profile, memory/signals, and personalization models.
  2. Establish how Commerce personalization integrates with the broader MAI memory and personalization systems, contributing signals and consuming shared user understanding.
  3. Partner with engineering and data science to translate personalization strategy into data requirements, model plans, features, and measurable outcomes.
  4. Define how the personalization layer is consumed by the Platform’s ranking/relevance systems and by Copilot, Bing, and Edge surface teams — with clear interfaces and quality bars.
  5. Drive improvements in relevance, recommendation quality, proactive-pick precision, and the freshness and coverage of the user shopping profile.
