Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Production Scheduler to support the Utah Operations group. This role involves coordinating production needs, understanding capabilities and constraints, resolving conflicts, and generating an 18-month production plan and detailed schedule. Responsibilities include gathering customer requirements, aligning schedules with business systems (MRP/ERP), advising management on status and potential issues, and coordinating interdepartmental activities.

What you'd actually do

  1. Coordinate with programs to gather the customer requirements and deliverables.
  2. Create an 18-month production plan that meets the customer requirements. Work with multifunction groups to resolve any conflicts or constraints to in support of the production plan
  3. Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
  4. Ensures that the production schedule aligns with and is supported by the business systems (MRP/ERP, Dynamic scheduling system, etc.)
  5. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.

Skills

Required

  • HS diploma and 9 years of experience working in operations, operations management, production planning, scheduling, or a BS Degree with 5 years of experience.
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to become an expert in the company's dynamic scheduling system (SYNC) and the use of other scheduling tools (Primavera, Project, etc.)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality controls
  • Excellent productivity and organizational skills
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and execute quickly at the highest quality
  • Experience working with others to improve processes and overall efficiencies

Nice to have

  • Production Scheduling experience
  • Experience in working in scheduling and MRP systems
  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with Government change control procedures (NASA, DoD, Airforce, Navy, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain DOD security clearance at the Secret Level
  • Understanding or certification in Lean Manufacturing.
  • Proven history of leveraging multiple departments to solve complex issues
