Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Project Engineer to manage the technical aspects of development, qualification, and production of a Hypersonic rocket motor. The role involves establishing and executing technical plans, coordinating across teams, interfacing with customers, supporting production operations, and managing requirements, design concepts, schedules, and risks. Experience in rocket motor design and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance are required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Coordinates across IPTs with fellow PEs on design, process, and quality of the product
  2. Develop program execution plans and works closely with the Program Office
  3. Required to interface with Customer regularly as the technical POC
  4. Ability to work with a wide range of positions both within and outside of NGC
  5. Supports production operations (manufacturing and quality)

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 years of professional experience
  • 3 years experience in rocket motor design
  • Ability to perform solid modeling using NX
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
  • Ability to work with energetic materials as a U. S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, firearms and explosives; “Employee Possessor”

Nice to have

  • Strong understanding and broad application of PS engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.) or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in generating technical solutions in the absence of complete customer requirements
  • Management of engineering scope as it pertains to budgeting and participation in EVMS evaluations
  • Experience with the proposal process
  • Knowledge and experience in System Engineering tools and disciplines
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and design for manufacturability
