We are seeking a motivated and experienced Principal Engineer Project Manager to lead and oversee operational sustainment and material projects. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects while fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams. This is an onsite position based in Phoenix, AZ.
What You Will Do:
- Develop and manage Materials Engineering project scope and schedules from cradle to first delivery
- Lead multiple medium to large projects ($500K+) delivering on-cost, on-schedule and on-technical execution
- Manage project risks, assumptions and dependencies
- Prepare progress reports and key project performance metrics including CPI/SPI/EAC
- Support vendor/supplier/contractor oversight, ensuring alignment with project objectives
- Provide regular status updates on projects to leadership, project sponsors, customers, and other stakeholders
- Facilitate communication between functional groups, stakeholders and customers
- Align project schedules with the Work Breakdown Structure to ensure proper planning, monitoring and control
- Identify, communicate, and resolve project issues in collaboration with project stakeholders
- Ensure scope changes are identified, documented, and communicated to the program manager for appropriate action
- Support continuous improvement in maturing standards, procedures, and tools for effective project management practices
- Mentor early-career professionals by providing guidance, support, and knowledge sharing to enhance team capabilities
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience **or **an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
- Proficient in MS Project, including resource loading, critical path analysis, and earned value management
- Project Management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred expertise in material science with a focus on coated fabrics, including their manufacturing, properties, applications, and performance in aerospace environment
- Project Management certifications (PMP, Agile, SAFe)
- Experienced in stage/gate development processes

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
