Principal Quality Engineer role at Northrop Grumman supporting manufacturing operations for advanced electronics, radar, and communication systems within defense capabilities. Requires experience in quality engineering, specification interpretation, problem-solving, root cause analysis, and supplier quality assessment. Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Establish and apply strong technical knowledge in quality engineering, specification/standards, drawing interpretation, measurement and analysis methods, processes and products, and relevant technologies.
  2. Identify and resolve complex technical and quality problems, issues, and defects on the production floor through problem-solving methodology, root cause investigations and root cause investigation and corrective action implementations.
  3. Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process, and/or other control procedures.
  4. Interface directly with subcontractor personnel and assess both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures.
  5. Manage subcontractor requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process.

Skills

Required

  • STEM degree
  • 5 years of relevant experience in quality or mission assurance
  • Experience reading engineering documentation
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • US citizenship

Nice to have

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Active Secret clearance
  • MES, SAP S/4 AND HQMS
  • Proficient with AS9102 and AS9100D Aerospace standards
  • Working knowledge or certification(s) in IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 and J-STD-001 standards
  • Working knowledge and experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) IAW ASME Y14.5
