Principal/senior Principal Engineer - Survivability (edwards Afb)

Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · Edwards AFB, CA +1 · Systems/Architecture/Test

This role involves performing Radar Cross Section (RCS) analysis and testing for survivability systems, coordinating requirements with designers, operating test equipment, and analyzing test results. It requires a strong background in applied electromagnetics and experience with RF testing, with a focus on ensuring systems meet low observability (LO) requirements. The position is on-site at Edwards AFB, CA, and requires a Top Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Coordinate LO requirements with RCS designers and supportability/maintainability engineers to ensure the system meets LO requirements
  2. Perform RCS analysis and test data post-processing
  3. Operate and maintain Tier 0 – 3 RCS testing / inspection tools for signature characterization and diagnostics
  4. Design, plan, and execute RCS/RF tests, to include determining test requirements, testing methods, equipment / measurement selection, test setup, and pre/post testing reporting
  5. Analyze system and component test results, work with program survivability personnel to determine compliance to signature requirements, evaluate design trades, and make recommendations for materials, composites, and other aspects of survivability performance
